Paul Susi is a community activist, educator, and performing artist based in Portland, OR.
Currently Working On:
Antigone was supposed to tour to over 20 community centers, prisons and schools in April of 2020. Then, some things happened in the world to derail those plans.
NW Classical Theatre Collaborative is working on digitally recording a performance and streaming it to those same venues this fall.
When the tour was initially suspended, we recorded messages for our audiences:
I’d made many friends during NWCTC’s previous touring production of “An Iliad,” by Lisa Peterson and Denis O’Hare, with music by Anna Fritz. When I realized that I wouldn’t get to see them again for a very long time, if ever, I initiated a pen pal project to stay connected.
Wait. What do you do, again?
I do theater because my identities are performances.
To perform is to build connections through shared narratives.
My work as an educator and as a community activist is complementary to my work as a theater artist.
We are all simply trying to do the right thing, survive, and do better.
